Blackout

As I'm sure you all know by now, the Utes had a huge victory over TCU last week, and what a crazy game it was! Deric got to come with us to this one and he was all decked out in his black. Even though it was freezing, the Utes warmed us all up with their 2 minute drill. Just two games stand in the way of another trip to the BCS!

Football & Hoops For D

D just finished his first year of flag football and had a blast. He has quite the football face in that top picture! He is already wondering when the league will start again. He also got to go with some crazy Boozer fan to a Jazz game-he even caught a full-size basketball to take home!

Back to Back!

As many of you know by now (since I tell anyone who will listen), Amy won first prize in a baking contest at the Utah State Fair on Saturday, her second such title in as many years!
Last year she took first in some dessert something or other and this year she won the Big Brownie Bake-Off. It again had to be an original recipe, so she came up with a little somethin, somethin she called the "Double-Double", with double the chocolate and double the peanut butter. We went from the fair to watch the Utes beat UNLV, it was a great day all around! We are so proud of our championship chef!

Our Peaches is 5!

Natalie turned 5 yesterday and had a blast with her friends at her party. She just loved the fact that the entire day was all about her!
Some of our favorite things about the Peach include:
  • She is our little daredevil. She loves to try new, adventurous experiences with us, especially at theme parks!
  • She is great second mom to Kate, always willing to help get her dressed, put her to bed for naps, share her toys, etc.
  • She is so affectionate. She is never shy about giving hugs and kisses and telling you how she feels about you.
  • While not always enjoyable in the moment, she is very, very independent.
  • She loves music and gymnastics. She is always either singing or doing cart-wheels.
  • All of the crazy things that come out of her mouth. She comes up with some wild stuff.

We love you Nat!

Lagoon!

We had a fun family day at Lagoon recently. At one point, Deric was crying because we were forcing him to go on a big ride, while Natalie was crying at the same time because she wasn't tall enough to go on that ride. Pretty much sums up the day. As Kate shows, we were all exhausted by the end of a great day. We love Lagoon!

Our Baby Kate is 2!

Some of our favorite things about Kate
*She says "dough" instead of "good". For example, we'll say "How was your food Kate?" and she'll say "Dough" as she nods her head.
*She calls her favorite blanket her "wheet-wee"
*All of her aunts and both grandma's she calls "mimi"
*Her amazing ability to eat around 15 servings of cereal every morning
*Her thumb-sucking
*Every princess and dress-wearing girl is an "ahh", thanks to the Little Mermaid
*Her cute little dances she does whenever she hears music. She definitely got her rhythm from her dad!
We could go on and on about this sweet little girl. She has had her "terrible two" moments for sure, but most of the time we all just adore her! Happy Birthday Little Isa!

Hawaii

We just returned from our first amazing trip to Hawaii and boy are we sad that we are back! We were able to spend over a week there seeing the sights and even better, the kids got to hang out with Grandma & Grandpa. We all had a blast and wonder if the depression of having to come home will ever wear off!

Paradise!

The Emerald City

A few days ago Amy and I got back from a very fun extended weekend in Seattle. I had some work meetings there and talked her into coming with me and we had such a great time! We went to a Mariners game, wandered around Pikes Market, and just enjoyed time with each other. When Amy saw all the fresh fruit at the market it was like Christmas morning for her. She was so into what fruit she was going to buy that she didn't even realize I was snapping pictures of her! We loved Seattle!

9 Blissful Years!!!

This picture shows one of the many reasons why I love my sweet sports crazed husband so much! Being a huge UCLA Bruins fan, Colb had to wear his jersey over his church clothes until he walked out the door to go to the priesthood session of conference since the Bruins were playing in the final four. He said if the Bruins would have won, he would have worn his jersey to the stake center to watch conference. Too bad they lost- our bishop would have loved that!
9 years and 1 week ago, Colby and I began our incredible married life together. I feel so very blessed to be able to share all of life's experiences with such an amazing man, and to know that he is mine forever! Happy Anniversary Babe! (a week late!) I love you!!!!

Spring Game

It was a very windy, but very fun day on Saturday up at Rice-Eccles for the spring football game. The kids seemed to enjoy the balloons as much as anything and the Utes won so we were all happy!

Yummy Burgers!

So I got home from work a little bit later than usual yesterday, so Amy and the kids had already eaten dinner. But they had saved for me a couple of burgers and homemade fries with fry sauce-left out on the table for me to enjoy.

As I got ready to take a nice big bite out of the juicy burger I could feel the four of them watching me, which was a little strange. Well, as soon as I took a bite and tasted cookie and brownie they all burst out laughing, and the kids all yelled "April Fools!" It was quite the joke-I mean look how real those burgers and fries look!

Happy Easter!!

Easter is so much fun, especially with our kids who get so excited! Deric, Nat and Kate had so much fun decorating eggs and going on Easter Egg Hunts and wearing new Easter clothes! We have enough candy to last until next Easter, which is not good for me (I've already eaten an entire bag of chocolate peanut butter eggs-I just can't stop myself!) Colby teases me about really getting into the spirit of playing Easter Bunny, but he gets as excited as the kids to see what is in his Easter basket

We Love the Madness!

Ok, maybe I love the madness and make the rest of the family pay attention. For family night we of course all picked our brackets. I have the Bruins winning it all, Amy likes Wisconsin, D is a big Longhorn fan, and Natalie is pulling for Memphis.

Happy Birthday Babe!

It has been so fun to celebrate your birthday with you over the years, I thought you might like these pictures from memory lane! I certainly won't embarrass you by revealing your age in such a public place, but I will embarrass you by telling you how hot and sexy I think you are! I love you!
I have to add a PS to this: After we all sang happy birthday and had some cake, Natalie said she didn't want mom to turn 30. When I asked why, she said she didn't want her to be old like me! And she refused to believe that I'm only a year older than her mom. Needless to say, this little conversation made Amy feel very good!
